An Important and Joyful Announcement

Final Approval - And the Journey Continues

This week has brought with it a moment I have been working towards for many years.

On Thursday afternoon, I returned home to a package containing the final draft of The Tales of Beacon Tarn for approval. Sitting there, opening that package, knowing what it represented, was something I will never forget.

I took my time going through every page, every detail… and I can honestly say, the book is now exactly as I had always imagined it would be.

The editing is spot on. The look and feel of the book is truly remarkable. Everything about it feels right.

Yesterday, I spoke with my publisher and confirmed what I already knew in my heart, I am completely happy with the final version, and I have now given my full approval for release.

So it is now official:

The Tales of Beacon Tarn will be released on 30th March 2026.

There are not many moments in life that feel quite like this. What began as quiet words written on the meadow, often in solitude, has now become something real, something tangible, something that will soon be out in the world for others to read, should they choose to.

I am beyond thrilled. But more than that, I am deeply grateful.

To my three children that have supported me on this journey, to my close friends, to the meadow itself, to Beacon Tarn, to the wildlife that has shared this journey with me… and to every single one of you who has followed along, read, commented, shared, and supported this page and the website.

Your encouragement has meant more than I can properly express. This has never felt like a solitary journey. And now, we are here.

Nearly at the moment where The Tales of Beacon Tarn leaves the meadow… and finds its way into the wider world.

Thank you for walking this path with me.

More updates very soon.

The Story Behind The Tales of Beacon Tarn

The Tales of Beacon Tarn is a living record of a life shaped by nature, reflection, and journey. Most of what is shared here takes the form of nature-inspired writing, including poetry and prose rooted in daily life on the meadow, the river, the seasons, the wildlife, and the quiet rhythms of living aboard a narrowboat, Beacon Tarn.

These writings capture the present moment: what is seen, felt, and experienced in real time, grounded in the natural world and the peace it offers. Alongside these reflections are more personal poems that are not separate from life on a narrowboat; they are an essential part of it.

The personal writing speaks of the journey taken to reach this place of balance and inner peace, exploring childhood, loss, resilience, healing, and the gradual return to self. Without that journey, the meadow would simply be a place; because of it, the meadow has become a sanctuary. The present and the past are deeply connected here.

The calm found today is the result of storms weathered before. The peace of the meadow allows space for old wounds to be understood and finally laid to rest. In that sense, the poetry collection shared is both reflection and release, inspired by where I am, and shaped by where I have been. This page is not about perfection, nor performance. It is about honesty, gratitude, growth, and connection with nature, with self, and with those who read along.

Each post is offered simply and sincerely, as part of an ongoing story rather than a finished one. The Tales of Beacon Tarn is not only about life as it is now but about how a life becomes whole. I share something each day on the Facebook page, link at the bottom of the website, because the journey continues, and many of you have found comfort, resonance, or quiet joy in walking it alongside me. Thank you for being here and for taking part in the story.

About the Author

Michael Adams

Michael Adams was born in 1967 and raised in the quiet heart of England, where fields, rivers, and woodlands shaped his love for the natural world. A man of deep reflection and simplicity, he has always felt a strong connection to the earth and to the unseen harmony that binds all living things.

The urge to write began in 1996, when a personal experience allowed him time to think and actually start to write. The content of what was being written was very personal, and he kept his writing a secret for many years.

In 2021, Michael followed his lifelong dream to live off-grid aboard his narrowboat, Beacon Tarn. This experience of life on a narrowboat, moored on a meadow he had known since childhood, brought him not solitude, but peace; not silence, but the soft music of nature’s voice.

His poetry collection grew from that stillness, written at dawn by the river, beneath the moonlight, or by the fire on long winter nights. Each poem is a conversation between the soul and the earth; each word a step closer to truth.

Michael continues to live on Beacon Tarn, surrounded by the wildlife and beauty that inspire his nature-inspired writing. His life and his poetry are one and the same, grounded, grateful, and filled with quiet wonder.

Acknowledgements:

To the meadow: for teaching me patience, peace, and the language of stillness.

To the river: for showing me that life always finds its way, no matter the depth or current.

To Beacon Tarn: my floating home, my sanctuary, my friend.

To Sue and Chris: thank you for your friendship and support.

To Eleanor: for awakening my inner voice.

To those who walk beside me in spirit or in silence: thank you for your kindness, for your listening hearts, and for believing in the words born here.

And to those who find comfort in these pages: may you hear your own peace echoed in the whisper of the wind, the hum of the water, and the stillness of the earth beneath your feet.

The Meadow’s Gift

When I first set foot upon the meadow again, the place I had known as a child, I had no idea how deeply it would change me. What began as a return to nature became a return to myself, much like the tranquil life on a narrowboat. The river, the willows, the old oak, and the bridge have all been my teachers. They have shown me the rhythm of life and death, of loss and renewal, of stillness and strength.

There is a healing here that words only begin to touch. The earth asks for nothing but respect; in return, she gives peace. The river speaks softly if you care to listen, her voice steady, patient, eternal. Every dawn is a reminder that we begin again. Every sunset teaches that letting go can be beautiful.

Beacon Tarn became more than a home. She became a sanctuary, a vessel for quiet reflection and an anchor in a world that often forgets to breathe. Within her walls, warmed by the fire and the hum of the water, I found not loneliness, but peace.

Poetry came to me as a kind of prayer, part of my nature-inspired writing. Each line, each verse, each quiet word on paper was a way to give thanks, to honor the land, the creatures, and the unseen souls who still walk here. The meadow has healed me in ways I can never truly explain. She listens when I cannot speak; she understands when I do not understand myself.

And so, to anyone who finds these words, I offer this simple truth:

Peace is not found by chasing the world; it’s found by standing still long enough to feel the world within you.

Here, upon this meadow, I learned that love is everywhere, in the whisper of the reeds, in the flight of the kingfisher, in the silence between the stars. The meadow gives freely to those who listen, and in her gift, I have found my home. This experience has inspired a poetry collection that captures the essence of this journey.

Where The River Speaks

There is a place where the river hums its ancient song, where the reeds whisper secrets to the wind, and where one man chose to live barefoot upon the earth, embracing a life on a narrowboat.

Listening to the quiet wisdom of the world, Michael Adams invites you into his nature-inspired writing through his poetry collection, Where the River Speaks. Aboard his narrowboat, Beacon Tarn, moored on a meadow that holds the memories of centuries, he explores solitude, healing, and the eternal dialogue between man and the natural world.

From the soft flight of the kingfisher to the steadfast gaze of the ancient bridge, from the warmth of the fire in winter to the hush of moonlight over the meadow, each piece serves as a meditation on peace, belonging, and the resilience of the human spirit.

These are not just poems; they are conversations with the earth itself. A testament to finding harmony after hardship and beauty in the simple act of being still.

Step into the meadow. Listen closely. This is where the river speaks.
